But to be honest when I do decide to get an ebook reader I will load it with a few books and start reading. Then I'll syn or load it with a few more and so on and so on. I don't feel the need for wifi, 3G etc etc.
They can add that stuff when the price starts dropping so low that it will not make a huge impact.

The reason behind 3G/Wifi is that you can download your books wherever you are. The same reason as why the Kindle has it. And also, the device will be able to read RSS feeds, but you will need an internet connection for that. That way you can use it for reading your news as well.
