It's an e-reader that has the benefit of having some other functionality. If you use it like a general use tablet, using bluetooth and wifi and browsing the web for long periods of time, it's going to get tablet/phone like battery life. 20% for an hour of solid activity like that is not bad. You can't compare that with the "weeks" of battery life on a Kindle where all you are doing on a Kindle is reading books. On my Nova Pro, doing primarily reading, and quite a bit of it, I can probably get close to a week of battery life.

You can say that it should be getting better battery life than another tablet because... eink. But one of the big benefits of eink is that it only uses significant energy when it's refreshing the screen. Browsing the web means almost constant refreshing - loading new content, animations, scrolling, etc. As opposed to 1-2 refreshes per minute if you're reading a book.
