Sure, I also wouldn't like the text to touch the screen borders as it would make it harder to read, but a margin of about 1 or 2 mm would completely suffice.
Screen real estate is crucial for me as I remember times when I used to read exclusively on my ipaq with 4" screen. Even on my ipaq I had margins turned on, but set to very small and it worked very well for me.
Nevertheless, I certainly wouldn't describe cybook's use of screen real estate as a good design decision, not even close.

And Jellby, thanks for the tip, it never occured to me that there's a way how to bypass that. Now I just have to figure out how to do it.
