It was the same for me. When my husband got a Kindle as a gift in 2010. He asked me if I wanted one too ? I thought no why would anyone want a reading gadget, unless you just liked gadgets anyway. Then I went to B&N and saw the first nook e ink device. It drew me in because I could also see the covers in color. Then I tried reading on it for the first time and I loved it. It also had buttons like the Kindle did at that time. I then asked for a nook for Christmas in 2010 and have never looked back. While doing some spring cleaning recently I found a brand new still in package book light with extra battery enclosed. I must have gotten it before they started to make lighted Paperwhites which was my second e ink device. I gave the book light to a friend who still reads only paper books. She told me the battery still worked on the book light
