I'm pretty out of date these days but I retired after 35 years as a programmer. Most of that was doing low-level systems programming but I did some application and database programming as well. I retired 25 years ago so I'm sure it's changed by now. I've written more database systems than I've used.

This isn't really about a server for me, though. I store some books on Dropbox but that's a secondary use. My main use was to sync my position in books so when I went from one device to another Moon+ would know where I left off on the other device. It's been a very good system and it works well. Much better and faster than Kindle's device syncing.

However I jumped the gun and it turns out that it's still working just fine for me. It makes it slightly more difficult to send books to Dropbox but not enough to be a problem. The biggest problem was that I panicked a little.
