Yeah, this is basically the same as 5.11.1

The new Translation languages can be found at the bottom of the scrolling list, which is to say that the list has two ‘tiers’ each sorted independently for some reason:

Arabic/(Simplified) Chinese/(Traditional) Chinese/Danish/Dutch/English/Finnish/French/German/Hindi/Italian/Japanese/Korean/Norwegian/Portuguese/Russian/Spanish

And then:
Afrikaans/Catalan/Icelandic/Swahili/Swedish/Welsh

The Read/Unread filter has magically shown up as I was writing this! It does not involve a software update, mine was 5.1.1 before and remains 5.1.1. It is also enabled for iOS and Android apps, as I discovered earlier today.

With iOS app, I have found the initial state is wrong for many of my books (a number of books I’ve read show as Unread). But one can easily toggle the status (as with Audible app).

I suspect Read status is conferred automatically if you go through the Before You Go workflow, and not otherwise. It does not seem to matter what the current reading position is.

But BYG feature didn’t always exist, so I’ll have to go through my Previously Read collection and make sure all of those are marked Read before I delete that collection, and then go through my To Read collection to make sure none of those are Read before deleting that. Large collections are painfully slow to manage on Kindles, and these are the two largest ones I have by far, so good riddance.
