I did have to talk to CS one time, because the book in question was a Kindle gift, so the refund option wasn't there. The OCR errors in the book made it almost unreadable.
But as mentioned, the option is only there for 7 days after purchase, except for those users who've returned too many books. It's my understanding that Amazon is the only one that offers a refund period at all.

It would be nice if I checked for formatting issues for every ebook that I buy from Amazon. Truth to tell, I just don't want to bother with it. If I come across an ebook with that problem, I just deal with then.
I assume that the ebooks with formatting issues, that you are talking about, are not ones which say, "formatting issues reported," on the product's [Aarrrgghhh! the automatic correction feature keeps putting the apostrophe in the wrong place!] webpages. And when such an issue occurs, doesn't Amazon automatically make the corrections to the ebooks that you have in your library (except for the rare instances when, for some reason, they can't, in which cases they send emails to you basically telling you, "you'll have to do it for yourself"?)
