add books again after conversion previously

Not sure the title explains but here goes.

I've add a couple of azw books, downloaded metadata, & converted the books to epub. The conversion downscaled the contents as in the graphics & text resolutions are lower & one can see the "pixels"/dots; i.e. the azw formatted books are mangas. Had bought the mangas a few months back. Also had deleted the azw version on Calibre after conversion when doing a mass delete of the azw files.

The question is whether if I use Calibre to 'add' the books again, will Calibre see that I already had the book or will Calibre see it as a new 'book' & just add it the same book directory/folder.

I won't be doing a conversion with the new added files but send it to CC on the tablet. & will look for a decent non-kindle azw viewer.

Or will I mess something up if I add the books again????
