What you could do is deselect the Full Screen option from the Optimization settings. That way when you're reading using Moon+ Reader, just tap in the middle of the screen and you will be able to see the Onyx top bar. You could then press twice on the circle with arrows in it to switch from normal mode to A2 mode and back again. That will refresh your screen. A bit of a clumsy workaround, but it should do the trick.
When you eventually get the 2.1 FW onto your device, you can enable the floating Navigation Ball app. You can program the app for up to five functions, one of which could be a screen refresh. I'm really liking the navigation ball because now I no longer need third party apps to take a screenshot.

I asked when 2.1 would be released for English and was told May, so I went ahead and installed the Chinese version. The navigation ball is great and I answered my own question about the app optimization not allowing night mode. There is a checkmark for "decolor background" which was checked and of course that was the problem. User stupidity. Works great now. I do wish the top bar didn't disappear in Moon+ when having the optimization active, but maybe I'll figure that out eventually, too.
May well be another user error. Other than that, I'm liking the Nova Pro a lot.
