Most likely the problem is the conversion site is doing image code wrong.

Did you try Calibre to convert DOCX -> EPUB?

If Calibre doesn't handle it, then perhaps there's an issue with your image.

You also mentioned "images containing links".

Are you trying to have a clickable image that sends you to a URL (like your author website?)?

Anyway, if you could try to attach a file that shows the issue, that would be a huge help:

Take your original DOCX with the problem images + delete all the irrelevant info. Then attach it to your next post.
