When I open 'Edit book' in a book with no cover in the library, i scroll on the left panel to the image with the tiny blue cover icon left to it. Then I open the context menu of the file and choose 'Export NAME_OF_FILE.jpg'. Next I look for the folder, where book's epub and opf are located and save the image as cover.jpg. Now do I close Calbre and when I open it again -voila- the cover is shown in the library.
This is only for the EDITOR to make the book correct. Once that 'edit' has been saved, the other step will work.
