I have the Likebook Mars device, apart from my Onyx Max2 and would not recommend using Likebook's native reader. It is significantly worse than onyx in this regard - especially it doesn't seem to support hyphenation which makes the pages render in a distracting manner with uneven word spacing.
That said, for both devices I use calibre to manage books. For reading, I use one of the android readers most of the time (librera, moon+, aireader) with custom fonts and dictionaries. They all work quite well after playing around with their settings and app specific e-ink optimize feature in both devices.
