Data can be uploaded directly from a general purpose computer to a kindle. The term sideload does not provide any information different from upload. Copy is also just as useful and maybe better. Uploading and downloading is copying to or from a remote computer. I'm guessing sideload originated since the target is not remote. Falling back to the term copy would be even better since it wouldn't confuse people. I stand by my assertion the the term sideload is useless. I might be persuaded that it is worse than useless.
