I have a similar problem. I've been trying to find a solution but haven't succeeded.
My Kobo Glo HD stopped worked all of a sudden. When I try to turn it on, the red LED stays on but nothing changes on the screen.
At first I thought it could be something related to the battery, so I bought a new one. After I installed the new battery, I got the same result: LED stays on, nothing changes on the screen.
Then I guessed the micro SD card could be damaged or faulty. I tried writing a new disk image to a micro SD card I had lying around my house. It didn't work either. I thought that maybe that micro SD card could be damaged since it had been a long time since I hadn't used it, or that maybe it could be just too old for the Kobo to recognize it. So I bought a new micro SD card and wrote the disk image. Again, it didn't work.
I'm pretty sure the screen is not broken because I've been capable of using the Kobo at least twice since it stopped working correctly. Both times it did turn on, it had been left unused for about two or three months; it worked normally for about one week and then it stopped working again. This is why I insisted on trying to repair it.
Of course I've tried doing the manual factory reset, without any results.
Whenever I connect the Kobo via USB to a Windows computer, it shows that a device called "SE Blank Megrez" has been connected.
Does anybody have any other ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
