Just for grins I entered my iPad mini 2 and iPad Pro 9.7” as trade-ins to see what Apple might allow for each. You can only trade in one used item per one new item being purchased.

$76 trade-in for iPad mini 2, 16GB, WiFi only applied to iPad mini 5
$189 trade-in for iPad Pro 9.7”, 32GB, WiFi only applied to iPad mini 5

Quite frankly that is more than I expected for my mini 2 but less than what I expected for the Pro. I could probably do better on eBay for the Pro even figuring listing fees and shipping costs.
