I have a Q for veteran iDevice users in this thread, which will influence my Mini buying decision.

I'm not hearing a lot of love for Apple Pencil Gen 1, it looks expensive and not awesome, and also I'm not really a "creative" so I don't do a ton of drawing/sketching. I would only use a stylus for basic things like note-taking in certain contexts.

If I get the Mini, would I be able to do just as well with a reasonable quality 3rd party stylus device, vs getting the Pencil Gen 1?
