212 mb pdf file

I downloaded SGA5.pdf, a scanned copy of some math notes, and confirmed that it
displayed on the Iliad without difficulty. The pages are 8.5 x 11 inches, scanned
at 251 bpi with the maximum size of the type block about 6.5 x 9 inches. This
would make it possible to show the text at nearly orginal size by cropping the
white space, rotating to landscape, and showing 1/2 a page at a time.

As to file sizes:- I loaded a scanned copy of Hoyt's Practical Quotations
to my Iliad - on a CF. The book was scanned at 600 bpi, 1376 pages 6 x 9.6 inches,
producing a file of 212 MB. It took about 40 seconds to load but once loaded
consecutive pages turned in a second or so. The type was barely readable at
a distance of 2 inches but beautifully sharp and clear when viewed with a magnifying
glass. The math notes on SGA5.pdf were also sharp and clear when looked at with
a magnifying glass.

I've finished tweaking some out of copyright scanned books to reduce file size and
remove white space and hope to post something about them soon.
