I just downgraded my Audible subscription to something called the Silver Monthly Plan. This option gives me one credit for $14 every other month.
Apparently this plan is a deep, dark secret; I only knew about it because the other day it was offered as an option when I clicked "switch plans" in my account. Today, when I went to actually do it, it was no longer offered automatically; I had to go through CS.
I needed to keep some kind of Audible plan because I had several credits left from an expiring yearly plan--initially I thought I would switch to monthly and then put the account on hold, but this is even better.
