You do not have to use sunlight only. You can also put it under an indoor light source to recharge.

It is a radio signal not WIFI. The signal is easily blocked by metal roofs, other buildings, interference and even trees. Depending on your geographical area they usually auto set the time between 2 AM and 4 AM.
