affogato, avocado, advocaat, avvocato - maybe that's why Maggie stopped making it, some wanted green, some wanted yellow. and some wanted to have an argument with it.
Affogato it means drowned, traditionally its a scoop of vanilla gelato with a double shot espresso poured over it - Maggie Beer at least got the flavour right. Starstrucks would probably smother it with nuts, reconstituted raspberry coulis, salt, and caramel.
The best ice cream I ever had was apricot from a street stall in Verona, a long long time ago. I would have been about 12, it was on a school holiday trip - Le Grande Tour, on the cheap. Been searching for it ever since. I like Syrian ice cream, its sticky/chewy, I wonder if they still make it, the Turks make it here - but it's not as good as I remember from Syria
