Works fine for me on Android 9 (I don't have a "7" device) with calibre 3.40.1 on Win10 Pro. I connect to the content server, go to Series, pick a series, pick a book, and I see the book details.

I suggest the universal palliative: power-down reboot both devices. If that doesn't fix it, send me a CC debug log.
