Have you played with the newer firmware/home screen?

Like you, I held out on updating until I screwed up the database and the kobo updated itself as part of a reset. I decided the damage was done and kept the new firmware as a trial.

I don't mind the new home screen. It's certainly not an improvement and I'd be happy if Kobo would launch a revamped version of the tiles. But the new homescreen isn't bad.

The thing is, you have to use it long enough so that it the Recommended box in the lower right quadrant changes. Mine usually shows a collection of other books in my library by the author of my current book. So the new home screen does change and adapt, though it's not as customizable as the tiles were.

And the increased ghosting seems to be some weird effect of the newest firmware. I didn't have that issue previously. It only seems to effect original 6" Auras.
