Kobo Aura does a different kind of screen refresh from any other Kobo I've owned. It's much less obtrusive than the full-screen flash-to-black on other units. I have mine set to every page and I find that's the best solution (and not bothersome). More recent models (the Aura was introduced in August 2013) can go more pages without a refresh.

Remember, Kobo Aura, Kobo Aura HD, Kobo Aura One, and Kobo Aura Edition 2 are all different devices; the figures you've seen from other "Aura" users may be for different machines.

Kobo Aura is a 6-inch device with a flush (not indented) screen and power button on the top (not the back).
