Just out of curiosity:

Afaict all of that is found in the /usr/local folder inside fs.tgz.
I reckon creating a clean image can be done by
* wiping the serial
* wiping the first partition
* purging /usr/local from fs.tgz on second partition

I have my doubts on the ntx_hwconfig, but its not a very difficult tool to rewrite.
