I routinely run on a desktop with 64GB of RAM, and my server has 128 GB. But then, I'm only a SOHO. 
Breaking the limitations of 32-bit was huge for me. But I can't see a need to go beyond 64-bit. |
I am sure it will eventually happen. At least in theory. And like you I probably won't be around anymore to see it. Doubling bits does not sound very impressive, except it is a lot faster than any exponential function. It is exponential growth when plotted on a exponential scale. The growth of storage is merely a function that doubles every so often.
