The Ashford Affair looks to be a non-series (???) title by Lauren Willig. I've read and quite enjoyed several of Willig's Pink Carnation (Scarlet Pimpernel pastiche) series, whenever they drop to a reasonable price - which is rarely, and they usually are $8 - $12 in the US, at least. Sigh!
The blurb for this one sounds pretty different, but I might still give it a try.
