Managing and searching 300 books: CC vs Kobo vs others?

I have a library of about 300 ebooks which I manage with Calibre on my PC.
I am looking for an eink ereader that works nicely with Calibre, and specifically with how it organises books by tags or hierarchical items. I understand that Kindles are quite poor at this, so I am considering:
  • A dedicated e-ink ereader like a Kobo, or
  • An e-ink ereader running some version of Android, like the Onyx, so that I can run Calibre Companion on it

Can you think of other ereaders I should consider?

What are the main differences between a Kobo and an Onyx with Calibre Companion, when it comes to organising sorting and searching books?

As for the Kobo, I understand that shelves can be set up based on a column in Calibre (https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kob...nd_Collections ), but only on one, and nested collections are not supported.
CC, instead, partially supports nested collections, but only up to two layers: http://cc_faq.multipie.co.uk/index.p...=86&artlang=en
Is this correct?

Can Kobo perform multi-field searches like CC can? http://cc_faq.multipie.co.uk/index.p...=21&artlang=en

Thanks!
