Author sort question

I have just hit an issue on the Author Sort.

Inputting an author "Mark Del Franco", the author sort incorrectly decided his family name was "Franco". However, the author (and his publisher) say his name is "Del Franco".

I fixed this by manually changing the Author Sort field, but Calibre sets the field to pink, warning of inconsistencies.

I looked at the Calibre manual for tweaks to the sort name algorithm, but there doesn't appear to be a tweak for the European family name prefixes (Italian 'del,' French 'de,' German 'von,' Dutch 'van' ...)

This won't affect me much, as I expect less than a dozen occurrences of prefixed names, but I was wondering if I am setting myself up for problems in the future by manually changing the Author Sort field. Can anyone offer some advice please?
