Indexing on 2018 Papaerwhite

I have converted several books by the same author, from epub to azw3 in Calibre, using the most up to date version of Calibre. When watching the indexing, it appears that the indexing is running fine and completes, but when I restart my Kindle (this is brand new by the way, I just got it a couple days ago) those same books pop up as being indexed... again... even though it showed that they have been indexed already.

The reason for the restart is because my brand spanking new Kindle seems to be depleting the battery faster than my very first Kindle Paperwhite 2012 edition and that one is 7 years old this year. I don't know if the battery is conditioning as I use the Kindle or if I got a defective device. Nothing on my device is mobi as the Kindle reacts to that file unfavorably I have noticed.

When I restart the device, the same books pop up and begin indexing again. When finished I restart again and yet again the same books pop up and begin indexing. I am afraid that if I don't restart that they will still be indexing and draining my battery faster although I cannot see the books being indexed unless I restart.

Anyone ever had this issue?
