False premise. "Tablets" are not that much cheaper than "computers". Serviceable (able to run browsers, calibre, and ereader apps) "computers" are readily available in the US for less that $200. Many of the better "tablets" (all iPad, all Surface, and many other desirable models) see for higher prices. It's true that some decent tablets, particularly the subsidized Amazon Fire models, sell for a bit less.
