Page numbers are as useless as % on a Kindle. Page numbers are an arbitrary number made to fit into an eBook. So with 301 as the ending page number, you still don't have any idea how long the book is. You can have multiple books with 301 and they aren't the same pages.

Now if Amazon used ADE style page numbers or page numbers where each page was one screen., you would eventually get used to them and have an idea how long the book is and then the % would be of more use.

However, not have any indication how far along you are can be a good thing. When you know how far along you are, you can know certain things will soon happen (depending ont he type of book being read).
