@Almamida: Jailbroken Kindles still use regular firmware (after you've done all the work you had to do while on "factory firmware" you update your device back to "consumer"/ regular firmware).
Jailbreak in Kindle-land is just one certificate file added to firmware. And jailbreak has zero effect on things like battery life and CPU usage.
In other words: if you have a choice you should always jailbreak, even if you think that you will never need to use that freedom it provides. Better to have it and not use it than to not have it when unforseen situation arises.
