And the suggestion was to split it back into the individual volumes. It makes it easier on devices that are low on RAM and CPU power (i.e., 90% of the ereaders out there). The verison I picked up had the original 51 volumes and 20 extra (The Fiction shelf).

EPUBSplit does a decent (and automated) job of this.
