Copy to another instance?

When right-clicking on an image (might be elsewhere also, I haven't looked), the last option is "Copy the selected file to another editor instance". However, no documentation exists that I can find on what it does. (I downloaded the PDF of the manual and searched it, and I did several web searches.)

What does it do and how do we use it? I want to get an image from one book to another, and I don't want to have to export and re-import if I can keep from it. (Not having drag and drop for files between editor sessions is a pain.) This option looked it might fill the bill, but with no documentation, I can't tell. (Choosing the option doesn't do anything visual, and a subsequent paste doesn't do anything either.)

Thanks!
