Still fails after splash screen. I'm not new to running Calibre. I've been using the Calibre software for many years. I have almost 11,000 books in my library and everything was working fine until the damn windows update on 1/20. I was hoping Windows had screwed the pooch and would offer an update that cleared up this issue. Nope.

Are there any other hints? Workarounds?
With calibre not running (check the task manager. Just because you don't SEE it on screen...)
Delete (or rename) the Calibre config folder. YOU WILL LOSE ALL PLUGINS AND USER SETTINGS, but NOT the Library.
When you next start Calibre, it might not find the Library if you changed the path/name. No biggie
Right click the Library Icon: Switch/create:Use Existing:< navigate to the Library folder>
