Agreed. Though if you have an opportunity to sell the items quickly for a decent price you could do that instead.

If the furniture and other items are cheap and easily replaceable then you might consider giving them away to avoid the hassle of moving them to storage.

I assume you're talking about items that are not family heirlooms. If you have family who would be upset that you're giving away Grandma's rocking chair (or whatever) then take that into consideration!
