Since both share the same screen and stylus tech maybe they would just work and i heard the pdf experience in the Onix devices are pretty good.

In any case I guess the first step would be to get root access to the device in order to be able to make core changes. I'm investigating a bit but it seems that it gonna take some effort to port existing methods for this chip into this device.

In any case i think the same. The PDF experience is subpar ATM and the palm rejection is a must and it needs better export experience.

It's a pitty Boyue doesn't have a proper support and most of the root fiddling stuff is in chinese only forums.
At least they are updating the firmware regulary (or so it seems) Lets see how far they go.
You just read my mind, I was kind of looking up where to find ports of the onyx or maybe sony apks, with no success.
Palm rejection and exporting are software issues, so I think there is hope. This device has a lot of potential, Imagine if we could have an app like Squid (not sponsored mention, but I kind of love it) matching the smoothness of the native notes app on the Mimas.
I was also fiddling around with the files stored in the device, It looks like the notes app saves a png copy of the notes (1/4 resolution), and something like a vector file I guess. The pdf annotating app doesn't save any pngs of the annotations, it just saves some xml files which I guess are the vector files to be stamped on the pdf, no idea if someone can reverse engineer those and make the pdf handwritten exports usable.
I wish there was a developer who could take the lead and give us (onyx, sony, boyue running android 6.0) some good eink optimized app with next to native latency... hell I'd do it myself if I knew how to.
For now, I think we have to wait for the promised PDF palm rejection update, as it seems pretty high in the request list of Mimas owners, and keep track of usage as they seem quite receptive to consumers' requests.
