Seriously? Deliberate sabotage? Deliberate sabotage would be Kobo saying that after Feb 28 your device was screwed if you had to reset it and that was that. Kobo is making sure you can still use the device after that time even though security protocols have changed. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to not do an update of the older devices just to keep up with changing protocols.
