The end of January, and it's looking like 9 out, 8 in for me. I've decided to leave the monthly deal I've had my eye on all month, which is kind of out of character.

In reality, though, I guess I'm only really delighted with 1 of the 8 acquisitions, so maybe I should keep a tighter rein.

It breaks down like this (5 purchases, 2 freebies, 1 loan):

- Books 2 & 3 in a series I started in December and liked. I don't begrudge these, but I'm not in a huge hurry to read them. Bought now because they were on offer.
- Books 1 & 2 in a new fantasy series. Probably good, but realistically I have enough fantasy to last me. Bought now because they were on offer.
- A freebie from the Amazon First Reads programme. I'm fairly indifferent to this one. I normally don't bother, but this was by an author I've previously read.
- A free short. I read this one immediately, and it didn't do much for me, but I guess the net effect is nothing.
- A wish-list book that dropped in price. This is the one I'm pleased about. I've heard good things and hope to read it soon.
- An indie SF book from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library. This is just to use up my monthly loan. Could be good. Could be bad.
