Hello everyone,
I just want to comment on native PDF managing, palm rejection and export is really sub par:
- PDF exporting exports your PDF notes like pdf comments, and this deteroriates note quality (brush thickness gets lost, and I defaults to a much thick, constant thickness line which is unreadable).
- Evernote exporting is just broken, it creates a note without images, with some source code lines.
So I started fiddling around with some note taking apps. What I found is If you guys want to know the full potential of the Wacom pen and layer on the Mimas (and possibly other similar devices like the boox note), you should try the Squid app, it is feature packed:
- Supports Handwritten Notes, templates, PDF annotation, and whatever combination and stacking of those features in a single notebook
- Distinguishes between pen input and touch input, this is huge. You can set the settings to pretty much ignore the touch layer (just zooming and pan, which can also be locked)
- Pen pressure sensitivity
- Supports custom function the side button of the pen (for the time being I don't know if side button is recognized as being the same as the eraser).
- Supports some hovering functions (which Boyue OS doesn't take advantage of at all): if you hover over a tool its name shows up.
- Full color support (you can select RGB custom colors, so you will know what color are you scribbling in).
Caveats:
- latency, which can be improved using A2 mode and long pressing the app icon in Boyue OS.
- full features require a subscription around $1 a month (Southamerica), or buying one feature at a time (PDF annotating, templates, highlighting, around $5 each)
I also would be interested in similar apps if you know any, specially apps taking touch and pen imput as different with PDF annotation.
