I use the Likebook Note since about half a year which still runs on Android 4.4 but also uses USB C. I am using it only with Linux, so i can't give you any ideas regarding Windows.

The device is recognized as an MTP device and to transfer files it needs to be connected this way. Another option is to use WiFi to transfer files. The Likebook Note offers a local web gui for book transfers and i'd assume that the more recent Mimas offers this possibility as well.

I would very much prefer to use this device's storage via USB instead of MTP, simply because file transfer is much faster than with that awkwardly slow MTP protocol. Too much user friendliness is the opposite of practical usability.
