Just a side note: having the brightness so high may contribute to macular degeneration. It might be better for your eyes to use a heavier, more bolded font with a lower light intensity.

I don't think there's much difference in the brightness of the two pictured screens, just a slight temperature difference: the new one has a warmer screen. You might find that you prefer this after a while, especially at night.
