I learned a long time ago to not compare the screens that way. Just use the new one for a few days, and decide if it works ok for you.

We've had 9 Kindles, 5 had front-lit screens, and they all looked different when compared side by side. We had 2 Paperwhites, 2nd gen, that were as different as the examples here. Both were just fine to read on.

I keep my Oasis light all the way up for daytime reading, just like the op.

The screen and light temp are either ok, or not. It doesn't really matter how it compares to another device.
