Children’s books on kindle use fixed layout KF8 (azw3) format. That format is not supported in the Kindle for iOS app. You instead need to create an AZK file using the Kindle Previewer and sideload that to the iOS app.

For books sold on Amazon the AZK format is automatically created and delivered to the iOS app,
