Mostly this, but...

I use my Echo for lights, attic fan (the only switch is upstairs) and music. I use it in combination with a Harmony Hub to control my entertainment system (power on/off tv, stereo, change inputs for specific named activities, etc...).

I like being able to set a sleep timer that will turn everything off, and one that I can schedule further in the future than what my TV allows. I love being able to pause and resume Netflix/Hulu/Prime videos with my voice--especially when I sit down with a double handful of sammich (I'm sure my remotes appreciate not being contaminated with cheetoh-dust, as well)!

When I forget to set a sleep-timer, it's more convenient to whisper "Alexa, TV off" when the glow wakes me up than it is to fumble around for the remote.
