And until the Indiana Senate made it mandatory in 2005, some cities and counties refused to follow daylight savings time. Indianapolis was one such. So part of the year it was on Eastern time and part of the year it was on Central Time. I used to work for a company that was based in Indianapolis and it could get confusing at times.
