I prefer the old tiled home screen myself. But I'd suggest giving 4.12 a run for a month if you can. The new home screen gets better as you use it and there are the firmware improvements you noted.

I'd be pleased if in the next release they went back to the old home screen. but other than that I couldn't see rolling back to 3.19.
