I've never found an author who I thought had done a good job of narration. My experience has been that they range from barely adequate to absolutely awful. I wonder what the motivation is? They want a bigger piece of the pie? The publisher is too cheap to pay for a professional? Hubris? In any case, I think an author who provides his own narration does himself a disservice.

The book, however, does sound interesting. I see the waitlist at my two best OD libraries is pushing a year (assuming books don't get returned early), but I'm third in line for the paper copy at my local library.
