I have just started to experiment with Calibre, and imported 10 pdf's into my first library.
I have been very surprised to find that saving changes to metadata for a single book takes several seconds. That's the delay between clicking OK and the edit window closing. Is this expected behaviour ?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, which is supposed to be unobtrusive, and my disk is a quite standard Western Digital Caviar Blue.

To add 10,000 books to a library with over 300,000 books was taking a whole day. Closing the tag browser, setting the processes # to 14 (Ryzen 7) and setting the temp directory as a ram disk has reduced this to about 5 hours.
