You are being too harsh on OP.

The ESP8266 microcontroller is $2, it does not need hardware to be connected to the kindle, there is nothing wrong with redundancy if a solution works better for someone else we are free to choose the best option. This is a good option for me. Rotating the kindle for sheet music isn't a common solution since that is not its standard aspect ratio. Worrying about 2.4GHz wifi jamming on a foot pedal less than a few feet away is laughable. It is not a real issue. The range for the ESP8266 is excellent.

Be nicer to the OP, its a good project.
